Welcome again! The Ol' Ranch House is now a relaxing B & B within the Gila Wilderness. The "Ancients" who built Cliff-Houses left the area approximately 1200, during a drought, while some resettled as/with the Pueblo people. The Apache and Navajo arrived shortly before the Spanish. Spanish horses and cattle roamed the area and were instrumental in the "Settling of the West," first by beaver hunters, then ranchers, miners, and families from the east. This was a working cattle ranch, before the Wilderness areas were created; now it is referred to as "the Rose Garden."
The original Ranch buildings still exist. The first home, a dirt floor adobe circa 1920, welcomed a new bride. As the Guest house, it now features a bedroom and bath with walk-in shower, kitchen, and living area. Designed for two, with a queen bed, it can accommodate four with a slide-out bench in the living area.
