Internet Services:
56k dialup provided to most of Catron County by Gilanet out of Silver City. DSL highspeed access is available mostly to people living “in town” or about 3 miles from the phone company’s equipment.  You can contact Western New Mexico Telephone Company at 800-535-2330 for more information. The other choice is Satellite - Direcway or Starband.  Area schools have computer labs for the use of their students, and the Village of Reserve has a computer for the use of the public to access the internet.

Shopping:
The nearest major shopping area is Springerville, AZ, which is 60 miles southwest of Reserve.  Major grocery chain - Safeway & Basha’s.  Nearest Walmart is Silver City, NM or ShowLow, AZ. Reserve and Quemado both have fairly well stocked grocery stores, and convenience stores are scattered around the smaller towns.  There are several small buying clubs for the Tucson Co-Op where they order on a monthly basis (great source for organic & specialty foods).  Reserve (County seat) boasts a full hardware & Ben Franklin’s store, some small thrift shops, a pretty decent grocery store, and some other small shops.  Quemado also has a small grocery store and some stores.

Medical Services:
There is a full service clinic located in Reserve. EMT service is scattered throughout the county. The nearest hospital is in Springerville, AZ, 60 miles southwest of Reserve.  Annual adult, senior, and teen health fairs are put on through the clinic for local residents.  A chiropractor comes once a week to Reserve, and there are chiropractors in the surrounding larger cities like Springerville. Dental, eye, and other medical services available in Springerville, Show Low, AZ, Silver City, NM, and Socorro, NM.  Albuquerque is a major metropolis 200+- miles north of Reserve.

Entertainment:
One of the most common questions is “What do you do for fun?”  Well, if you have to have constant outside entertainment, you might want to rethink living in a rural area.... Catron County is 3-4 hours drive from a major metropolitan area any way you look at it.  We are located in the middle of prime outdoor recreation areas, tho - hunting, camping, fishing (somewhat limited), 4wheeling, hiking, and horseback riding are just some of the area favorites.  Some of the area bars host pool competitions, dances, and other entertainment; there are childrens’ activities such as FMHA and Junior Rodeo; community & area events such as the annual Catron County Fair and rodeo events are also quite popular! School sports events are also very well supported by parents and students. Television is primarily provided thru satellite services such as Directv and Dish Network.

Library Services:
The Village of Reserve and Glenwood both have libraries open to the public.  The New Mexico State Library offers Books by Mail services to rural areas as well as a Bookmobile which travels to the various communites in the county on a monthly basis.

Schools:
Reserve has Headstart thru 12th grade; Datil Kindergarten thru 6th grade; Quemado Kindergarten thru 12th.  More information on the Reserve schools can be obtained by calling (505)533-6242.

Senior Services:
Reserve & Quemado have fully functioning Senior Citizens Centers.  Information on the services they provide can be obtained by calling (505)533-6676.
